Must be puffball season! Or, a sign that synchronicity is replacing causality. We might fry up some of this one, too. Only some of it, because the sucker's about 2 feet across.
Holy Fungus, Batman!! Where the heck did that come from? Are they any good when they get that big? My on-line sources said to make sure they are pure white inside. Even a shade of any other color means they are starting to form the spores and won't taste good.
Evan found this, out in Judy's woods by the fort- this huge, alien thing sitting there all by itself. We've seen a few small ones in our yard too, though.

Good Heavens! Must be something in the water. I always figured that basketball-sized ones must be the limit.
BTW, this monster started forming spores and getting nasty inside before we could enjoy it.
