Jeez, that could have been put in a museum. I wonder if it's still sitting up there, rusting away.

Funny you say that. It was there all those years, including my college years (and it would have been visible from campus, except it was behind those ore-processing buildings) but we didn't 'discover' it until that fall. It was still there in the summer of '02. I read (last year I think) that it was donated to a museum in Wisconsin and is being restored.

That highly contrasted, sun-bleached closeup of the wheels and machinery is particularly good. It's quite arresting. It's a scathing indictment of the imperialist copper industry!
